National Instruments has developed three similar IEEE488 interface kitsfor Sun-3 and Sun-4 VME workstations: GPIB-S3/4, GPIB-S3/4P, and GPIB-S3/4D. The kit contains a full-function IEEE488 Controller capable ofhigh-performance data transfers (up to 500 KB per second). All includethe NI-488M multitasking software and mounting accessories. NI-488Msoftware package consists of a UNIX device driver that is called up byusing high-level I/O functions, so the user does not need to program theinterface hardware or learn the IEEE488 bus communication protocol.Engineers, scientists, and technicians with the need to controlinstrumentation in a multitasking environment are potential users ofGPIB-S3/4D or GPIB-S3/4.
